Rush Hour and X-Men 3 director Brett Ratner wants to take his franchise ruining stick and beat Guitar Hero with it, according to MTV Multiplayer. Ratner has featured the game in several different projects as of late, including a Miley Cyrus music video. His dream is to make a Guitar Hero movie. WTF?
I’ll give you a second to brace yourselves for the super-spectacular plot…
A few seconds isn’t long enough, probably, but here it goes:
It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the ‘Guitar Hero’ competition. One of these dreams-[come-true] kind of concepts.
Though he doubts that Activision would go for it, he still seems pretty fascinated with the idea. The dude also wants to make a God of War movie.
While I understand the fascination with something that has no doubt become a part of pop culture, I still can’t help but wonder why people don’t realize how stupid some of these movie ideas are when they say them? To me, it just contributes to that eternal stigma of “movies based on video games suck”, because people keep making movies based on video games that suck.
What do you guys think? Will we ever see a decent movie based on a video game? Any particular franchise you think that could translate well to the silver screen?
